Answering some of your most asked questions!

what camera and lens do you use?

I’ve most recently acquired the Leica Q3, but I’ve been using the Sony a7R III since 2017. For the Sony, my favorite daily lens is the 24mm f/1.8. It’s slightly wide and does nicely in low-light situations. 35mm f/2.8 is also very compact and great for street photography and the everyday. 20mm f/1.8 is best for interiors and wide shots (like 0.5 on iPhone!). Outfits and portraits with a creamy bokeh are shot with a 55mm f/1.8 or 85mm f/1.4 GM. For travels, I like to bring a 24-70mm f/2.8 GM as it is the most versatile zoom lens; however, it does get quite heavy. For casual trips, the Sony DSC-RX100 VII is super convenient to pop into your pocket or bag.

how do you edit your photos?

I use Adobe Lightroom Classic to edit the photos from my camera, and VSCO to edit photos on my iPhone. TouchRetouch is also a very handy app!

why did you start a blog?

I was on Instagram for a number of years but wanted a platform where I could tell a deeper story about my travels and journey through life. I’ve always loved to document my experiences and memories, and this way, I could share them more in-depth with you!

how long have you lived in new york?

I moved to NYC after graduating from RISD in 2009. I’m proud to say I’m officially a New Yorker!

How did you build your career?

My last full-time position was at Barneys New York as Vice President of Digital Design in 2019. I was with the company for 6 years before the corporate office officially closed. I worked closely with the EVP, Creative Director and oversaw UI/UX and creative assets for the luxury brand’s websites, apps, and digital applications. A sizable portion of my role was working cross-functionally with all the teams on marketing, strategy, editorial, social, and various components of the business. Before then, I held design and art direction positions at digital agencies.

when did you get married? Where did you go for your honeymoon?

Hoon and I got married in April 2012, and held our wedding in September later that year. Our reception took place at Jungsik in TriBeCa, the only Korean restaurant with 2 Michelin stars in the world! It was extra meaningful to us because Hoon’s company WNS led the branding, photography, and interiors for the restaurant. Our official wedding was held a week after in Korea, at Seoul National University. We then left for Bora Bora the day after the ceremony. All of it went by in a whirlwind, but every moment was so special.
