The Flavors of Barcelona
Barcelona was the second leg of our 10th anniversary trip to Spain, a short stay but a good one. Coming from Mallorca's slower pace, it was a nice shift back into real city energy. We stayed at the Almanac Barcelona, centrally located and easy to work with for a short visit.
Hunter Bell Dress, Hermes Sandals
We had lunch at SLOW&LOW, a Michelin-starred spot, and went in planning to do the 5-course menu. Once we saw how little more the 12-course cost, that decision made itself. Every dish was clearly put together with real intention, and the flavors were bold in a way that actually surprised us a few times.
Seeing La Sagrada Familia more completed than the last time was its own kind of interesting, the contrast between the old sections and the new ones is more obvious than I expected.
Loewe Top, Toteme Shorts, The Row Flats, Jil Sander Bag, COS Hat
We took the bus out to La Roca Village, the outlet center outside the city. Smaller than Woodbury Commons back home, but it had the brands I actually wanted, Loewe, Prada, Moncler, and between European pricing and the tax refund, the numbers worked out better than shopping at home.
Back in the city, we stopped at El Jardi for a drink, live music going in their outdoor garden.
Our last lunch was at Compartir Barcelona, known for seafood. Portions are small, which meant we could order a handful of dishes and share, and each one felt distinct enough that it was worth doing that way instead of just picking one thing.
