MAISON&OBJET et Paris
We arrived in Paris on Saturday morning. Our original plan was to take a red-eye Thursday night to arrive in Paris on Friday, but our flight was cancelled so we had to leave on Friday night instead. I wanted to have a day to visit smaller shops and enjoy the city before the weekend as many things are closed on Sunday and Monday (which was the day we were leaving), but it was great nonetheless. When we landed, we quickly stopped by Hotel Monte Cristo Paris to wash up and grab breakfast (which was simple, yet fantastic), and went straight to the fair.
MAISON&OBJET is a major French trade show held bi-annually at the Paris Nord Villepinte Exhibition Center and covers all areas of art and living – decoration, design, furniture, accessories, textiles, fragrances, tableware, etc. It was like nothing I’ve ever gone to before – it was enormous! Even though we spent the entire day there, it flew by as there was just so much ground to cover. The show also has a program called the Designers of the Year and Rising Talents which they select emerging talents every year and celebrates the values of style on an international level. Love initiatives like these.
On Sunday we woke up extra early for our baked goods. I don’t know what it is, but the dairy and dough in France is just different! The flakiness of the croissants and chewiness of the warm baguettes combined with the chill winter air made it all a match made in heaven.
